Xinhua, June 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cristiano Ronaldo' s mother was stopped at Madrid airport with 55,000 euros in her handbag in April, according to the spokeswoman of Spain's civil guard on Monday.

In order to stop money laundering and escaping after corruption, Spain only allows passengers to take out 10,000 euros when they are departing the country without any prior declaration. But when the Portuguese woman was waiting to take a flight to home, 55,000 euros were discovered in her handbag.

Spain' s civil guards were not hard on the Real Madrid star's 61-year-old mother Dolores Aveiro, though it was merely an infraction. What' s more, her 45,000 euros were buckled temporarily, but she was not arrested. If she can show some evidences about the money' s source, the money would be put back, otherwise it would be charged into Spanish treasury.

Ronaldo is the highest-paid footballer all over the world, according to Forbes magazine, which estimated his 2014 income at 46 million euros. Endi
