Vietnam, Brunei strengthen military ties

The ongoing visit to Vietnam by Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) will contribute to strengthening the military relations between the two countries, said Vietnamese defense ministry on Monday.
Do Ba Ty, chief of the General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam on Monday held talks with the visiting Commander of the RBAF Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, according to the website of Vietnamese defense ministry.
The Brunei guest is visiting Vietnam from Sunday to Tuesday at the invitation of Do Ba Ty.
Military relations between Vietnam and Brunei have been continuously strengthened during the past years, especially through the visits of high-level delegations and exchanges of young military officers, naval cooperation and personnel training, said the defense ministry.
The military cooperation between the two countries has contributed to the building of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community by the end of 2015 with the political-security pillar playing an important role in promoting peace, stability in the region, thus facilitating the development of each ASEAN member and the whole bloc, said the ministry.
Also on Monday, the Brunei guest met with Vietnamese minister of defense Phung Quang Thanh in Hanoi. Endi
