Xinhua, June 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

John Allen, Special Representative of US President Barak Obama, on Monday held talks with senior officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) over fight against Islamic State (IS).

Allen met members of BiH Presidency, senior officials from BiH intelligence and law enforcement as well as leaders from Islamic community.

He called for enhanced co-ordination over fight against IS, especially better exchange of information over recruitment of foreign fighters, local media reported.

Several hundred Bosnian have gone to Syria or Iraq over the past several years while over 20 of them were believed to have been killed while fighting in Syria.

Meanwhile, BiH government, under US request, early this year donated some 500 tons of ammunition to Iraq to fight against IS. BiH has some 16,000 tons of ammunition and small arms left from the 1990s Bosnian War.

After his visit to BiH, Allen will travel to Croatia and Italy. Endit
