Philippine gov't warns Filipinos in S. Korea against MERS infection

The Philippine government on Sunday urged Filipinos living and working in South Korea to take all necessary precautions against the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) following the rising number of confirmed in the said country.

Communications secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. told a press conference that the government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs, continues to monitor the situation in South Korea closely and had issued advisory to the Filipinos living, working and visiting the said country.

"Although there is no outbreak of MERS-CoV, our Philippine Embassy in Seoul has issued an advisory regarding preventive measures that should be taken by Filipinos while in South Korea," he said.

There are at least 55,000 Filipinos currently in South Korea. Endi
