Toddler falls to death after gust blows away bouncy castle

Xinhua, June 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

A 3-year-old girl died after an inflatable castle she was playing in was swept up into the air by a freak gale in a southern Chinese town, local authorities said.

The county government of Tianyang in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said the accident happened on Thursday evening, when a blast of wind blew away the bouncy house outside a supermarket.

A 3-year-old girl was seriously injured after falling from the facility and died later in hospital, it said.

An unverified surveillance footage circulated on the Internet showed the bouncy house, the size of a large yacht, was swept up in just five seconds. A woman tried to grab its edge but failed to stop the flight.

Li Zhongji, an official with the county's work safety administration, said the bouncy house was an unlicensed business, and the police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Endi
