S.Korea urges DPRK to return to dialogue table for denuclearization

South Korean President Park Geun-hye urged the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday to return to the dialogue table to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

Park said in a speech to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Memorial Day that Pyongyang was developing nuclear weapons and long-range missiles though 65 years passed after the outbreak of the three-year Korean War.

The president pointed out the DPRK's recent ejection test of a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), saying the DPRK was repeating threats to the Korean Peninsula and the international society.

The DPRK said early in May that it had successfully test-fired the SLBM, indicating more powerful nuclear threats to the U.S. mainland and South Korea as the DPRK submarine sailed underwater secretly to strike a nuclear attack against the U.S. soil.

Pyongyang also claimed its capability last month of miniaturizing nuclear warheads small enough to be mounted on the ballistic missiles.

Park urged the DPRK to return to the stage of dialogue and cooperation as rapidly as possible after giving up its nuclear armament, which all countries in the world are worried about, to go together with South Korea toward a joint prosperity. Endi
