Serbia stages Mikser art festival

Xinhua, June 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

The biggest Serbian festival of creativity "Mikser" kicked off in Belgrade on Wednesday with the participation of around 1,000 artists from both Serbia and abroad.

The seventh edition festival, which traditionally takes place in the urban area called Savamala, along the bank of the river Sava, will host exhibitions of contemporary art, design, dance and theatre performances, as well as concerts of local and regional rock and pop stars.

The opening of the Mikser festival took place at the building of the Mikser House with the performance of the traditional Serbian folklore ensemble "Kolo" and continued with exhibitions, movie screenings, and concerts.

Thousands of visitors attended the opening of the Mikser festival which stretches across 20 venues that are tightly located inside the Savamala area, an old town center that turned into a transit zone over the decades.

One of the goals of the festival, according to organizers, is to make life better in the Savamala district of Belgrade.

Most of the exhibitions, concerts, performances and screenings will take place in old warehouses, or at the closed streets of this district.

The festival will last until June 7. Endit
