South China on yellow alert for downpours

Xinhua, June 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Tuesday issued a yellow alert for rainstorms in the southern regions.

Heavy rainfall will pelt parts of Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou provinces, and Shanghai from Tuesday night to Wednesday, the NMC forecast.

It also warned of possible thunderstorms and gales in these areas.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.Endi
