Hong Kong's residential transactions up 14 pct in May

Hong Kong's Land Registry received 5,168 sale and purchase agreements for residential units in May, up 13.6 percent on April but down 1.9 percent year-on-year, it said here on Tuesday.

The total consideration for these agreements was 40.2 billion HK dollars (about 5.2 billion U.S. dollars), up 15.2 percent on April and up 26.2 percent year-on-year.

Including all other types of buildings, there were 6,839 agreements in May, 9.9 percent more than April, and 0.8 percent more than May last year.

The total consideration for all property sales in May was 48.7 billion HK dollars, up 9.2 percent month-on-month and up 23.3 percent year-on-year. Endi
