Tokyo stocks open lower on overseas losses, profit-taking

Xinhua, June 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower in early trading Monday as traders moved to lock in gains following the Nikkei index's 11-day winning streak through Friday, and as sentiment was dented by declines in European and U.S. stocks late last week.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 87.33 points, or 0.42 percent, from Friday to 20,475.82. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 7.39 points, or 0.44 percent, at 1,666.26.

Major decliners included mining, real estate and shipping issues. Endi
