Myanmar hosts int'l film heritage festival in Yangon

An international film heritage festival, hosted by Myanmar, kicked off at the Nay Pyi Taw Cinema in Yangon Friday.

The opening ceremony of the Memory International Film Heritage Festival 2015 was attended by Myanmar Information Minister U Ye Htut, as well as famous film actors and actresses from China's Hong Kong, France, Malaysia and Singapore and host Myanmar as guests of honor.

The 10-day event, running until June 7, aimed at opening a window onto the world of the past to enable better understanding of the world today, will screen more than 50 classic films from around the world as well as four Myanmar golden oldies screened between 1906 and 1978.

The theme of the festival is centered around women.

Conferences and master classes will be held at the sidelines of the festival, featuring international speakers from the film industry, and memory music and cinema program as well as live performances for silent movies will also be presented. Endi
