Tokyo shares end higher on domestic optimism

Tokyo shares ended higher on Friday with its benchmark Nikkei index winning an 11-day gain, the first such winning streak since February 1988, on optimism over performance of domestic companies.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 11.69 points, or 0. 06 percent, from Thursday at 20,563.15.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.89 point, or 0.05 percent, to 1,673. 65.
Gainers were led by nonferrous metals, iron and steel, and mining issues.
The turnover was about 3,666.3 billion yen (about 29.63 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
