Dortmund extend with defender Neven Subotic

Xinhua, May 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Serbian international Neven Subotic and Dortmund agreed on a two-year contract extension, the "BVB" announced in an official statement on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old center back penned a contract extension ahead of scheduled, keeping him with the "BVB" until June 2018.

"Despite his young age of 26 years he can look back on many years of experience and continuity with Dortmund. He fits perfectly to Borussia Dortmund," CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said.

Sporting director Michael Zorc added: "Neven joined us as a young boy. We are convinced that he will be also one of our key players."

Neven Subotic moved from Mainz to eight-time German champions in 2008. He made since his arrival over 186 appearances and scored 15 goals.

"I am very happy with my decision in favor for the BVB. Dortmund became my second home. I am looking forward to a successful future with the team and our fantastic fans," Subotic told the club's official homepage.

Dortmund completed the Bundesliga season 2014-2015 on the 7th place. They still have the chance to snatch the German Cup at the last game of Juergen Klopp, who leaves the club after seven years. Endite
