Thailand and Japan on Wednesday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate on potential introduction of Japan's shinkansen bullet-train technology into Thailand, according to the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT).

The two countries will conduct a feasibility study and also evaluate the profitability of a 660-kilometer high-speed railway project that connects Thai capital Bangkok and the northern province of Chiang Mai, Transport Minister Prajin Juntong was quoted by the NNT as saying.

Prajin and his Japanese counterpart Akihiro Ota signed the MoU in Tokyo.
