EBRD mulls new projects to support Ukraine's businesses

Xinhua, May 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering implementing a batch of new projects to support the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, an official from the bank said here Wednesday.

"In 2015, we expect that we will implement about 130 projects," Charlotte Ruhe, the EBRD's director for small business support, told a press conference.

In the framework of the planned projects, the EBRD will provide Ukrainian companies with advisory services, support participation of women in business activities and realize a plan to unlock export potential of Ukrainian enterprises, Ruhe said.

The projects will be carried out within the wider EBRD program to support small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, she added.

Since 2010, the bank has provided 4.4 million euros (about 4.8 million U.S. dollars at current price) of donation funds for 400 Ukrainian enterprises to support businesses in Ukraine.

In 2015, the EBRD also plans to finance Ukrainian enterprises in their efforts to upgrade their marketing strategy and increase competitiveness. Endi
