Germany's benchmark DAX index loses over 180 points

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday lost over 180 points and closed at 11,625.13 points.

The Greek government is possible to become insolvent, which weighed on the financial markets, according to local analysts. The blue-chip index dropped by 189.88 points, or 1.61 percent under selling pressure.

Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, a home care company, was the only share among the 30 DAX member shares which managed to rise. It went up by 1.16 percent.

The utilities company E.ON SE plunged by 3.27 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG lost 2.83 percent. The utilities company RWE AG St slipped by 2.82 percent. Deutsche Bank AG dropped by 2.31 percent. Merck KGaA a pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, went down by 2.29 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.16 billion euros (around 4.53 billion U.S. dollars ). Bayer AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 340.07 million euros. (1 euro = 1.09 U.S. dollars). Endit
