Jordan Tuesday stated that all Muslims should be engaged in the war against terrorist organizations, which seek to defame the Islamic faith.
Islam has nothing to do with terrorism and the violent practices conducted by terrorist groups which seek to tarnish the image of this faith.
Therefore, it is the duty of Muslims to fight terrorism, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh was quoted as saying by the official news agency Petra during a meeting with a U.S. Congress delegation.
During the talks, Jordan and the U.S. also discussed efforts to resume Palestinian-Israeli negotiations in order to pave the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital.
Jordan declared that the U.S. has a major role to play in the resumption of the stalled peace talks.
Regarding Syria, Jordan reiterated its call for a political solution in the war-torn neighboring country, voicing its appreciation for the U.S. support to Jordan, which is hosting a substantial number of Syrian refugees.
Jordan, a close regional U.S. ally, is a member of the U.S.-led international coalition in the fight against the Islamic State (IS).
Jordan intensified its war on IS after the latter executed a Jordanian pilot by setting him on fire whilst alive earlier this year after capturing him late 2014. Endit
