Vietnam Airlines to offer wi-fi onboard

Xinhua, May 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is negotiating with Go Go from the United States and OnAir from Europe to supply Internet service on its flights, local online newspaper Vietnamnet reported Tuesday.

"These are the two professional suppliers of Internet services on the plane. They have connecting devices from the ground to the aircraft, from the planes to the passengers. Therefore, they will be the key units to provide this service," said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

To serve passengers on flights of Vietnam Airlines, these suppliers must have permits from the Vietnamese authorities. Passengers will be allowed to turn on their electronic devices at an altitude of 3,000 m.

Many airlines in the world have offered wi-fi service onboard. In Southeast Asia, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Malaysia Airlines currently have the service. Endi
