Vasco set to sign Colombian striker on loan

Xinhua, May 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Brazilian Serie A champions Cruzeiro have opened the door for Colombian striker Duvier Riascos to join rivals Vasco da Gama on loan.

Riascos has made just four appearances and failed to score since joining Cruzeiro from Mexican outfit Monarcas Morelia in January.

Vasco are in search of a striker and are said to have offered to pay the 28-year-old 30,000 US dollars a month.

Cruzeiro spokesman Guilherme Mendes confirmed the former Shanghai Greenland Shenhua forward was not part of the club's plans this season.

"Riascos has been used sparingly because of the number of players we have in his position. He needs to play so that he can better adapt to Brazilian football," Mendes was quoted telling O Globo.

Vasco, who were promoted from Serie B last season, are 15th in the 20-team Serie A standings with three points from as many matches. Cruzeiro are 18th with just one point. Endite
