Croatian foreign trade deficit declines 1.6 percent in 2014

Croatia's foreign trade deficit reached 7.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, a 1.6 percent decline compared with 2013, Croatian Statistics Bureau (DZS) said on Monday.
Croatia's export amounted to 79.1 billion Croatian kuna (11.5 billion U.S. dollars) in 2014, a 9 percent growth compared with 2013, meanwhile its import reached 130.7 billion kuna (19 billion U.S. dollars), a 4.5 percent growth. Thus Croatia's foreign trade deficit stood at 51.6 billion kuna (7.5 billion U.S. dollars) or 1.6 percent less than in 2013, DZS said.
About 64 percent of its export and 76.7 percent of import were to the EU, it said.
Among the EU countries, Croatia exported the biggest amount of goods to Italy, followed by Slovenia and Germany. At the same time, Croatia imported the most goods from Germany, Italy and Slovenia. Endit
