Japan dominates World Judo Masters

Japanese judokas dominated the World Judo Masters - Mohammed VI-2015, which closed here late Sunday, wining 12 medals, including three golds.
Japanese fighters Takanori Nagase, Naohisa Takato, and Miku Tashiro bagged the three gold medals, securing the top place for their country in this two-day tournament.
Russia and Mongolia both grabbed two gold medals, ending 2nd and 3rd places respectively; while China, France, Georgia, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and the United States won a gold medal each.
With the top 16 judokas on the world ranking list in each weight category being engaged, quality judo was guaranteed and the enthusiastic public enjoyed every fight in the competition.
Broadcast in over 150 countries, the event, which was held for the first time in an African nation, would definitely mark the beginning of a new period of development for judo worldwide.
A total of 223 judokas from more than 50 countries and regions took part in this key event for qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The World Judo Masters offers 700 points to the winners, more points than any other competition after the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
Morocco has staged numerous judo competitions, on the top of which the Junior World Championships in Agadir in 2010, in addition to continental events which have attracted a great number of international judokas.
