Croatian state budget deficit stands at 1.9 bln dollars in 2014

Xinhua, May 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Croatia's state budget deficit in 2014 amounted to 12.8 billion Croatian kuna (1.9 billion U.S. dollars), a government report said on Thursday.

Croatia's total revenues in 2014 amounted to 114.7 billion kuna, while total expenditures amounted to 127.5 billion kuna, according to a government report on the execution of the 2014 budget.

Croatian Finance Minister Boris Lalovac said Croatia's budget deficit amounted to 13.5 billion kuna or 4.1 percent of annual gross domestic product (GDP) according to the methodology of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

However, according to the European Union's official statistics agency, Eurostat, Croatia's budget deficit amounted to 5.7 percent of annual GDP.

Lalovac said this discrepancy was mostly due to Eurostat applying different standards when counting in public pension funds and state guarantees given to state companies. Endit
