Spanish treasury places 5.5 bln euros at higher yields

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 5.508 billion euros (6.124 billion U.S. dollars) paying higher yields than in previous auctions and registering a demand of more than 10.6 billion euros.

A total of 3.525 billion euros worth of three-year treasury bonds carried an average interest rate of 0.246 percent, slightly above of the interest rate of the previous auction.

A further 1.352 billion euros worth of five-year treasury bonds carried an average interest rate of 0.641 percent, which was above the 0.535 percent of the previous auction held in April.

The remaining 630 million euros worth of 15-year treasury bonds fetched an average interest rate of 2.311 percent, also above the interest rate of the previous auction.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed 68.7 billion euros of medium and long term debt on the market, which represented 48.3 percent of the country's financial goals for the year, 141.996 billion euros. (1 euro = 1.11 U.S. dollars) Endit
