Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on Thursday signed the documents to join the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
"Today is a momentous day. We are completing all the internal procedures necessary for entry into one of the world's largest economic union," Atambayev said during the signing ceremony.
On Wednesday, Kyrgyz Parliament approved the ratification of treaties and protocols for Kyrgyzstan to join the EEU.
Kyrgyz Prime Minister Temir Sariyev told Wednesday's parliament meeting that 90 percent of Kyrgyz citizens support their country's EEU membership.
Kyrgyzstan will become a full member of the EEU after ratification by all member countries of the economic bloc.
The EEU was established on Jan. 1, 2010 by Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Armenia became a full member this year.
The customs union aims to increase economic cooperation with the free flow of goods, services, capital and labor and coordinated policies in the energy, industrial, agricultural and transport sectors. Endi
