Clash leaves 7 Taliban dead in NE Afghanistan

Seven Taliban militants were killed and six others injured as clash flared up in Badakhshan province, 315 km northeast of Kabul on Wednesday night and lasted till Thursday morning, a local official said. "A group of Taliban militants raided police checkpoints in Zorakhshan area of Wardoj district Wednesday night and police returned fire which lasted till Thursday morning during which seven insurgents including three foreign nationals had been killed and six others injured," district governor Dawlat Mohammad Khawar told Xinhua.

There were no casualties on the security personnel and civilians, the official contended.

Wardoj and the neighboring Jarm and Yamgan districts in Badakhshan province has been the scene of Taliban-led insurgency over the past year.

Taliban outfit hasn't made comments. Endi
