FTSE 100 up 0.17 pct on Wed.

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, increased by 0.17 percent, or 12.16 points, to 7,007.26 points on Wednesday.

Decent gains from blue chip stocks Vodafone, Barclays and RBS gave the London stock markets a lift.

Besides, the nine-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of England (BoE) voted unanimously on holding the benchmark interest rate and quantitative easing policy this month, according to the central bank's meeting minutes published on Wednesday.

Burberry Group's share price increased by 5.03 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Intu Properties, Hammerson, Hargreaves Lansdown and Land Securities Group increased by 2.06 percent, 1.92 percent, 1.88 percent and 1.83 percent respectively.

Vodafone Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.41 percent, followed by Barclays (3.37 percent), Mondi (2.42 percent), Barratt Developments (1.79 percent) and Royal Bank of Scotland Group (1.78 percent).

The index has gained 8.65 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollars. Endit
