Germany's benchmark DAX index little changed

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday lost only 4.86 points and closed at 11,848.47 points.

Investors at the stock exchange here decided to hold back on trading Wednesday, according to local analysts, as they were waiting on the publication of the United States Federal Reserve minutes on Thursday. Also, news on Monday from European Central Bank executive board member Benoit Coeure that the bank would speed up the pace of bond purchases before the summer, also affected investors.

Two utility companies E.ON SE and RWE AG St led the risers' list, up by 1.39 percent and 0.84 percent respectively. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor company, advanced by 0.72 percent. Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA, a health care group, inched up 0.54 percent and Daimler AG added 0.38 percent.

On the other hand, Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. lost 1.76 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa AG dropped by 1.46 percent. ThyssenKrupp AG slipped by 0.98 percent. Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, a personal care company, slid by 0.96 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft, an agricultural chemicals and salt company, went down by 0.78 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.02 billion euros (around 3.35 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 245.58 million euros. Endit
