21 militants killed, 24 injured in N. Afghanistan

More than 20 Taliban militants have been killed and two dozen others injured during cleanup operations in the northern Baghlan province over the past three days, a senior police officer said Wednesday.

"A total of 21 Taliban rebels have been killed and 24 others injured over the past three days of cleanup operations in Baghlan- e-Markazi district of Baghlan province," Assadullah Shirzad told reporters.

Police, army and national directorate for security or the country's spy agency were involved in the operations, the official said.

There were no casualties on security personnel.

Taliban militants fighting the government have yet to make comment. Endi
