Namibia's Cruiserweight champion Meroro to challenge Russian Kudryashov for WBA title

Xinhua, May 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Namibia's African Cruiserweight champion Vikapita "Beast Master" Meroro travelled to Moscow earlier this week to challenge Russian Dmitry Kudryashov for the WBA Cruiserweight International title.

Meroro will trade leather with the 29-year-old Russian at a fight pencilled for Friday.

Currently Meroro is ranked fourth in the world by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and holds an impressive record of 32 fights, 28 wins and 4 losses, while Kudryashov has a 17 match victory streak by way of knock out and has never hit the canvas or tasted defeat.

Kudryashov is the current WBA International Cruiserweight champion and is rated No. 6 in the world by the World Boxing Association (WBA), 12th by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and No. 5 by the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Meanwhile, promoter Nestor Tobias said Meroro is well within the required Cruiserweight limit of 90.7kg and is ready to tangle with the Russian. Endit
