Internacional eye move for Atletico Madrid defender

Xinhua, May 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Brazil's Internacional are considering a move to sign Atletico Madrid left-back Emiliano Insua on loan, according to media reports.

Insua is currently on loan at Spain's Rayo Vallecano after failing to hold down a first-team place under Atletico manager Diego Simeone.

Internacacional have been seeking a new left-back since the departure of Fabricio, who was axed after abusing the club's own fans during a match in April.

"He (Insua) has been offered to the club by a group of his representatives and the coaching staff have expressed interest," ESPN Brasil reported on Tuesday.

Insua began has career at Boca Juniors before being signed by Liverpool in 2007. He caught the eye of Simeone after a successful spell with Sporting Lisbon from 2011 to 2013.

The 26-year-old has been capped four times for Argentina since making his international debut in 2009. Endite
