Cambodia, France sign four-year cooperation document

Xinhua, May 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodia and France on Tuesday signed a four-year orientation and cooperation document (2015-2018) , aiming to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation.

The document was inked between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and visiting French Secretary of State for Development and Francophonie Annick Girardin.

"The document is very important for the two countries to continue cooperation in all fields," Hor Namhong told reporters after the signing ceremony, adding that it was the second phase cooperation after the first one, signed in 2010, was ended last year.

Girardin said the document determined priority sectors for the two countries to cooperate in the next four years.

Meanwhile, she said her trip to Cambodia was to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation and promised to encourage more French investors and tourists to Cambodia.

Girardin arrived here on Monday for a three-day visit. She is scheduled to sign four financing agreements of more than 40 million U.S. dollars with Cambodian finance minister Aun Porn Moniroth on Tuesday afternoon to support socio-economic development in Cambodia, according to a press release from the French Embassy.
