World education forum opens in S. Korea for post-2015 agenda

The World Education Forum (WEF) 2015 opened in South Korea's port city of Incheon with an opening ceremony Tuesday to set a new goal and framework for action on education for the next 15 years.

The landmark forum will continue for three days through Thursday at the Songdo Convensia in Incheon, some 46 km west of Seoul, under the slogan of "Transforming lives through education."

The third round, co-hosted by the UNESCO and the South Korean government, will involve four plenary sessions, six thematic debates, 20 parallel group sessions, and side events on issues related to the post-2015 education agenda.

About 1,500 participants from more than 160 countries will meet at the world's largest conference on education. Among major participants are UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UNESCO Director- General Irina Bokova and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. Endi
