Military intelligence officers of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries met here Monday to discuss current security threats, along with their Latvian and Romanian partners, the Slovak ministry of defense announced.

It was an historic first meeting of military intelligence officers of the Eastern European NATO members.

Military intelligence officers agreed it was necessary to work closely on cooperation, specifically in the observance of particular, highly technical, and contemporary difficult tasks, to help each country further it's development.

Slovak Minister of Defense Martin Glvac, present at the talks, said the meetings can be viewed as proof "that our military intelligence input is valued and that we are a contributing member in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization."

The V4 countries include the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Endit
