Tokyo stocks open higher in early trading on falling global bond yields

Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher in the early trading on Monday as investor sentiment was boosted by falling global bond yields.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 70.35 points, or 0.36 percent, from Friday to 19,803.27. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 11.08 points, or 0.69 percent, to 1,618.19.

Gainers were led by mining, insurance and nonferrous metal issues. Endi
