Three bodies had been recovered near the wreckage of the missing U.S. military chopper, an official from the Nepal government confirmed Friday.

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- Eighteen militants were killed as clash erupted in Kudnuz province on Friday, provincial police chief Abdul Sabour Nasrati said.

"A total of 18 Taliban rebels have been killed as clash flared up in Bagh-e-Shurkat area today morning," Nasrati told reporters here. (Afghanistan-Clash-Death Toll)

BUJUMBURA -- Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza returned to the capital Bujumbura on Friday and is expected to address the nation later after a coup attempt staged by a top general was foiled by the army.

Normalcy gradually returns to the capital after forces loyal to the president defeated mutineers led by Major General Godefroid Niyombare, a former intelligence chief, who announced that he had overthrown Nkurunziza on Wednesday. (Burundi-Coup)

WASHINGTON -- The United States would consider using military force to defend the Gulf nations in the event of an external threat to their territorial integrity, U.S. President Barack Obama said Thursday.

Reaffirming what he called an "iron-clad commitment" to the security of the Gulf nations, Obama said the United States is prepared to work jointly with them to "deter and confront" an external threat to any Gulf state's territorial integrity that is inconsistent with the United Nations Charter. ADEN, Yemen -- About 15 people were killed and scores of others wounded on Friday as intense fighting continued in Yemen's southern province of Taiz despite a five-day humanitarian pause, a military official told Xinhua.

"Eleven fighters of the Shiite Houthi group and four tribal militiamen loyal to Yemen's President Abdu-Rabbu Mansour Hadi were killed in the fighting in Taiz's neighborhoods," the local military official said on condition of anonymity. (Yemen-Ceasefire) Endi
