Nigeria begins trial for para players in table tennis

Xinhua, May 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria on Thursday kicked off a two-day trial for the selection of Para players for the All African Games (AAG) and Olympics in Lagos with 121 players.

The AAG would hold in September in Congo Brazzaville while the Olympics would hold in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

The players for the trial organized by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) are 92 male and 29 females. Both the male and female events of the trials were in 10 categories each.

Trial commenced with group round-robin and would progress to the knock out stage.

The trial's referee, John Peters, said he was overwhelmed with the impressive turn out of players.

He said the players must display high technical skills for them to be selected. Endi
