Rival fans attack Fenerbahce captain on ferry

Fenerbahce midfielder Emre Belozoglu was attacked by rival Besiktas fans on a car ferry, Turkish BGN news reported Thursday.

The incident happened on Thursday was reported to start when Besiktas fans traveling on the speed ferry from Gebze to Yalova province to Thursday's game met the Fenerbahce captain, who was heading to Bursa province for an opening ceremony.

It is reported that The Besiktas fans have noticed the former AC Milan playmaker and surrounded his vehicle, verbally harassing and then assaulting him. Tensions were noted to increased when Emre Belozoglu stepped out of his car.

"They surrounded me in the ferry and cursed me out. I then stepped out of the car and started fighting with him. I have filed a complaint against the individuals who attacked me. I will be giving a statement to the police," Belozoglu said in a statement to press.

The Besiktas fans have claimed that another player with Belozoglu, Orhan Ak, pulled a gun on them. While stating that he does own a legal gun, Ak said that he did not take it out.

Fenerbahce now stands first in the Turkish super league, while Besiktas is five points behind in the third place with one match less played. Both teams have a chance to win the championship. Endi
