Singtel reports 4 pct up in group net profit in FY 2015

Xinhua, May 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), Southeast Asia's largest telecommunications operator, reported a 4 percent increase in group net profit to 3. 78 billion Singapore dollars (2.85 billion U.S. dollars) for financial year ended March 31, 2015, Singtel announced on Thursday in a media release.

The telecom giant also reported a strong fourth quarter with net profit up 5 percent to 939 million Singapore dollars from 898 million Singapore dollars in the same period a year ago.

The increase was due to strong growth in customers and data services at its regional mobile associates. The Group's combined mobile customer base was up to 555 million at the end of March, which is an 8 percent increase from a year ago.

Group Consumer revenue gained 6 percent, while revenue in Singapore and Australia rose strongly, driven by higher mobile data usage and equipment sales.

The telcom giant proposed final ordinary dividend per share of 10.7 Singapore cents, bringing total dividend per share for the year up 4 percent to 17.5 Singapore cents, representing a payout of approximately 2.79 billion Singapore dollars. Endi
