Dutch economy grows for fourth consecutive quarter

Xinhua, May 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Dutch economy increased for the fourth quarter in a row, the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics CBS announced Wednesday.

According to preliminary calculations by the CBS, the economy in the first quarter of 2015 grew by 0.4 percent compared to the previous quarter. Compared to the first quarter of 2014 the growth percentage was 2.4.

The figures are, according to the CBS, the result of positive developments in consumption, exports and investments.

"The economic growth continues and is becoming more broad-based," Minister Henk Kamp of Economic Affairs said in a statement.

"Companies invest more, exports continue to rise and consumers spend more. The government wants to give more space to entrepreneurs by reducing costs, addressing unnecessary rules and improve lending. In this way, we can jointly ensure that the economy can grow more," he added. Endit
