Two Al-Shabaab militants executed in Mogadishu

Xinhua, May 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two convicted members of the militant group Al-Shabaab were executed by a firing squad in Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday.

The two were found guilty and handed death sentence by a Mogadishu military court after they were charged with killing a popular female singer and lawmaker Saado Ali Warsame.

The military court in Somalia has in numerous occasions handed death penalty by firing squad to Al-Shabaab militants who have been accused of being behind a series of killings and car explosions.

Al-Shabaab has been driven out of Mogadishu and its major strongholds but has been able to make daring attacks on government installations and restaurants in the city, which have resulted in multiple deaths in the recent past. Endi
