Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi has allocated on Wednesday one billion riyals (265 million U.S. dollars) for a Yemen relief center in the kingdom, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The additional relief fund, together with the previously pledged 274 billion dollars, has doubled the total amount of Saudi's aid money to the country Riyadh has been bombing since late March.
Earlier last month, Saudi Arabia said it would fund the entire 274 million dollars demanded by the United Nations to help victims of the war in Yemen.
The UN said the money would meet the life-saving and protection needs of 7.5 million people affected by a worsening humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
On Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition announced that a five-day cease-fire in Yemen has become effective. The Saudi-proposed truce has been accepted by Yemen's Shiite Houthi group to allow deliveries of desperately needed relief supplies.
Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, the Royal Court Adviser, said the Yemen relief center will exert maximum effort in collaborating with the United Nations to deliver the aid as soon as possible. Endit
