Australian cat survives 7 weeks in shipping container

Xinhua, May 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

A three-year-old cat which went missing from its owner in Australia's Northern Territory capital Darwin for seven weeks has been discovered trapped, but alive, in a shipping container it wandered into for a sleep.

The cat named Pippa was extremely dehydrated and under- nourished when it was discovered in Brisbane, Queensland, when the container was finally unloaded by the owner who had moved his belongings between the two cities.

The container had been loaded onto a truck for the long-haul trip through the outback and then stored until its owner eventually followed.

"I got call from my former neighbour,'Hi, this is Jason, we've found your cat in our container,'" the cat's owner Rebecca Schilling told the Nine Network.

There was no food or water no food or water in the container, confirming that a cat's survival skills live up to the saying they have nine lives. Plans are now underway to get Pippa back to Darwin after veterinary treatment. Endi
