Iran expresses optimism over new round of nuclear talks

Iran and six world major states resume a fresh round of talks on Tuesday here, trying to reach a historical deal by the June 30 deadline.

Tehran and the P5+1 countries, Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany, are heading to a detailed accord based on the framework deal reached in Switzerland on April 2 to put an end to the decade-old issue.

Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, expressed his optimism over the talks, saying he is very hopeful that a deal on his country's nuclear plan could be reached by the self-imposed deadline.

The deal is aimed at blocking Iran's technical path to nuclear weapons, in exchange for a significant easing of nuclear related economic sanctions imposed on Tehran.

Western states have been long suspecting Iran's real intention of its nuclear program, saying Iran might carry out nuclear weapon plan under cover of its civilian program, while Tehran dismisses the allegation. Endit
