German automaker BMW Group reported on Tuesday that its sales continued to grow in April, while sales of brands BMW and MINI have achieved new records.

A total of 175,972 BMW Group cars were delivered to customers around the world in April, representing an increase of 8.4 percent year on year, the Bavarian company reported.

Among those deliveries, brands of BMW and MINI made separately 148,896 and 26,766 deliveries, year-on-year increases of 5.6 percent and 27.8 percent.

As a result, 702,643 BMW Group vehicles were sold in the first four months of 2015, up by 8.2 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the report.

"Following on from our best ever first quarter, April has seen further sales growth in all regions around the world," said Ian Robertson, member of the board of management for sales and marketing.

"We are succeeding in our aim to expand sales in a balanced way globally and I'm certain that the exciting new models we're bringing to the market in 2015 will ensure this positive trend continues," Robertson added.

Deliveries of BMW and MINI vehicles in Asia increased by 5.9 percent to a total of 54,469. In Chinese mainland, the sales in April achieved the same high level as last year with 37,976 vehicles, up by 0.6 percent. Endit
