Two persons were killed in India when another quake hit neighboring Nepal Tuesday, sending tremors across northern and eastern India, said officials.
One person died in Danapur area of Patna district and another person died in Siwan district in a wall collapse incident in Bihar.
Panic-stricken people rushed out of buildings in Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh states, said local media.
At least 12 students were injured in a school in Darbhanga in Bihar as children rushed out to safety from class rooms, said Press Trust of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed all authorities concerned to be on alert for rescue and relief operations.
"PM took stock of the situation following the fresh major earthquake felt in Nepal and parts of India, at a high-level meeting," the Prime Minister's Office said.
The quake came less than three weeks after the April 25 earthquake killed over 8,000 in Nepal.
About 80 were also killed in India, mostly in Bihar, due to the quake. Endi
