About three quarters of Slovaks support cooperation between Czech and Slovak armies to defend the two neighboring countries, according to the results of a survey carried out by Empirica consulting firm.
"This, without a doubt, demonstrates an ongoing prevailing feeling of trust among the people of Slovakia towards the Czechs. It can be presumed that if a similar survey were carried out in the Czech Republic, the results would be similar," stated Empirica director Martin Prevratil.
As many as 74 percent of respondents said they were in favor of joint projects in the military defense industry, while nearly seven out of 10 people said they favored an agreement between the Czech and Slovak governments regarding their armies' weapons supply.
In addition, 56 percent of respondents supported the idea of Slovakia and the Czech Republic creating joint forces for missions abroad like the common airspace protection program agreed on in 2014.
The survey polled 1,008 respondents between Feb. 26 and March 3. The data was collected by Focus agency. Endit
