The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday test-fired three ballistic missiles into its eastern waters, Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean military as saying.
The DPRK launched what were believed to be short-range KN-01 missiles in the sea off Wonsan, a major port on the North's east coast, between 4:25 p.m. and 5:23 p.m. local time, according to an official with the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) in Seoul. (South Korea-DPRK-Missiles)

NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said that violence has no future, in a stern message to left-wing Naxalite rebels who took more than 200 villagers hostage just hours ahead of his rally in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
The state authorities said that the villagers, all supporters of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), were taken hostage by the left-wing rebels near Jiram valley late on Friday night in order to prevent them from attending Modi's rally in Dantewada district this morning. ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's Air Chief, Air Marshal Sohail Aman, on Saturday blamed a technical fault for the crash-landing of a military helicopter that killed two ambassadors in northern Pakistan.
The Russian-made MI-17 helicopter, carrying diplomats and their wives, crash-landed near the scenic Gilgit Baltistan on Friday, killing seven people, including the ambassadors of Norway and the Philippines and wives of the ambassadors of Malaysia and Indonesia. GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- Afghan security forces recaptured Nawa district in the eastern Ghazni province and established government control there after 10 years of Taliban rule, deputy to provincial government, Mohammad Ali Ahmadi said Saturday.
"Units of national security forces after 13 days of fierce operations evicted Taliban militants from Nawa district and established government control there for the first time in the past 10 years," Ahmadi told reporters here. (Afghanistan-Taliban- Offensive) Endi
