French president Francois Hollande congratulated on Friday British Prime Minister David Cameron on his victory in the parliamentary elections.

Hollande invited Cameron to Paris once his government formed, said French presidential office the Elysee in a press release.

Hollande reaffirmed in the statement his attachment to the "deep friendship" between France and the United Kingdom, and to the promotion of their partnership in all fields, especially within the European Union (EU).

"They agreed to work together for the success of the Climate Conference COP21," concluded the statement.

Cameron's Conservative Party won an overall majority in the House of Commons following the general election held on Thursday. Endit
