EU expresses condolence over helicopter crash in Pakistan

A foreign spokesperson expressed the European Union (EU)'s sympathy for the victims of Friday's helicopter crash in Pakistan.

A spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) said: "We are deeply saddened by the news that a helicopter of the Pakistani army carrying foreign diplomats crashed upon landing this morning in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan."

"According to information received from the Pakistani Army, four foreigners and two Pakistani citizens were killed, among them the ambassadors of Norway and the Philippines and the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian ambassadors," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added: "We extend our profound condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish prompt recovery to those injured in the crash."

At least six people were killed, and 11 others injured when a helicopter carrying 11 foreigners and six Pakistanis crashed in north Pakistan's Gilgit region on Friday morning. Endit
