German car producer Audi AG reported on Friday that its sales continued to grow in April after the best first quarter in its history.

Some 152,850 automobiles were delivered to customers in April, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent, according to an official announcement.

From January to April, global unit sales of the four-rings company grew by 5.2 percent to around 591,050 premium automobiles.

"Audi remains on course and posted a solid sales performance in April. Despite the upcoming generation changes in key model families and sales markets, we have surpassed the record figures of the previous year," said Luca de Meo, board member for sales and marketing.

According to the announcement, Audi has sold 178,612 cars so far this year in the Chinese market, 5.2 percent more than the same period of 2014. In April alone, 45,296 sales were delivered to Chinese customers, increasing by 0.2 percent year-on-year. Endit
